I know what you’re thinking. Oh god, another gift guide. But this is a very cool and very special gift guide because where else are you gonna see where to get someone something inspired by Conclave, Wicked, AND Hot Frosty? Let’s get right into it.
HIGH POTENTIAL (ABC)
Morgan Gillory is one of the coolest characters on television this year. Her personality is as fun as her fashion, and her faux fur coat collection is something to appreciate. The only thing I find myself thinking about more than her chemistry with Detective Karadec is her knee-high western boots.
Altar’d State / Finley Boots by Billini / $119.95
This pair nails the Western vibe of the ones she wore on-screen, though the heel is slightly different. I personally prefer more of a block heel so I’m loving this pair.
Steve Madden / Faye Bone Leather Boots / $189.98
This pair by Steve Madden has a stiletto heel like Morgan’s and is a sleek option for replicating her look.
WICKED (Universal Pictures)
Wicked is one of the most talked about movies of the year, and for good reason. I’ve already seen it twice in theaters (and once more on TikTok live), and it’s the kind of film that stays in your head—for the music, of course, but also for the fashion. One of the film's most significant pieces of fashion is the silver slippers worn by Elpheba’s wicked sister, Nessarose. These will play a more significant part in part II but for now, if you want to wear a similar style to all of your holiday gatherings, look no further (just watch out for falling houses).
Dolce Vita / Clara Heels / $125
Charles & Keith / Ever Glittered Gem-Embellished Kitten Heel / $86
Forever & Always / Cindy - Cinderella / $99
9-1-1 (ABC)
Let’s just admit it: there are few things hotter than a firefighter, especially one in their casual department gear. This is proven time and time again by 9-1-1 on ABC, and now you, too, can share in this effortlessly blazing look.
LAFD / Adult Pullover Hoodie / $35
This is a cozy gift with a cause. You can purchase this style of hoodie directly from the LAFD Foundation, and your purchase helps provide vital equipment and funds for critical programs to help the LAFD save lives and protect communities.
THE SUBSTANCE (Mubi)
Elisabeth Sparkle is one of the defining characters of 2024, and many images in THE SUBSTANCE will haunt our minds for years to come. But despite the lessons the film taught us about beauty standards and the industry, we can still make room in there to appreciate her yellow coat…right? The large lapels, the cuff detail on the sleeves…incredible.
Target / INSPIRE CHIC Single Breasted Notched Lapel Coat / $94.79
This option from Target is a great way to play with the color and tone of Elisabeth’s coat while staying budget-friendly.
Saks Fifth Avenue / Baacal Double Breasted Car Coat / $580
The shape of this coat is stunning, and I really love the button details here.
HOT FROSTY (Netflix)
This is one of the most…interesting movies this year and includes a naked snowman brought to life, a widow, and a magic scarf. Christmas movies are notoriously cheesy with hand-wavy plots, and that’s what makes them wonderful. Still, watching this one felt like an exercise in mental health, and it is obviously a must-watch this season.
Nordstrom Rack / UGG Rib Knit Scarf / $88
UGG is a brand known for its cozy products, and I can feel the softness of this scarf from this picture alone.
Studio Knit / Knitting Pattern
If you’ve been curious about learning to knit, ‘tis the season. This pattern is a beautiful replica of the scarf in the movie, and who knows— perhaps when you’re done you can also bring your very own snowman boyfriend to life.
CONCLAVE (Focus Features)
If you want a cardinal cassock, I’m afraid you’re gonna have to join the clergy. In the meantime, here are some beautiful cross pendants to give you that same feel of the opulent red and gold mix worn by Cardinal Lawrence.
Sacred Metals / Sterling Silver Marcasite Cross Pendant / $119.95
Etsy / Gold Garnet Vintage Cross Pendant / $29.90
THE BEAR (FX)
Being based in Chicago, it makes sense that Sydney would have some really great coats. I know we’re on season 3 of THE BEAR now, but I still can’t stop thinking about the green quilted puffy jacket she wore in season 1.
Paragon Jackets / Paloma Wool Hokusai Jacket / $249
As this coat is several years old, it is tricky to find the original by Paloma Wool, but there are quite a few replicas, including this one by Paragon Jackets.
Was there a piece of fashion in media this year that you just can’t stop thinking about? Let me know in the comments!
